QJS Track and Field Grade 8 Combined Team Takes 1st at Zone Meeting in Prince George

15 athletes from QJS competed at the recent North Central Zone Meet in Prince George. The results were phenomenal. Our Grade 8 Combined Team placed first overall with 193 points (second place had 136 pts). There were many excellent results, personal bests and feats of sheer determination. Just a few of the highlights include:

  • Lily Giesbrecht-Judd with a gold medal in Triple Jump
  • Kennedy Lawrence with a gold medal in Shot Put
  • Autumn Lepetich with a gold medal in Hammer Throw
  • Liam Parker with a gold medal in the 100 m Hurdles
  • Fruzsina Peter with a gold medal in the 200 m Dash
  • Gabriel Ruiz with a gold medal in the 400 m Dash
  • Relay wins by the Grade 8 Boys and Junior Girls in the 4 x 400 m

We can't say enough about the positive impact sports have on our students. Whether they come first or last, have a good day or bad, they learn to work through stress, to persevere and have the opportunity for personal growth.

We are so proud of ALL of our team and look forward to the Provincial Championships in Langley at the start of June.
